Kurdish History
By Sazan
This paragraph will describe Kurdish history in the past, present and future. Saddam Hussein was the president of Iraq from 1979 to 2003. During this period, he committed many crimes against humanity especially against the Kurdish people. For example, on March 16th, 1988, he attacked the town Halabja with chemical weapons. As a result, he killed at least 5000 people and 7000 people were injured. This attack has resulted in long term illnesses for the people in this area. In 1991, all Kurdish people stood up against Saddam Hussain to get more freedom. Saddam Hussein was the president of Iraq until 2003. After that, the people were liberated. Nowadays, Kurdish soldiers (Peshmarga) fight against Daa’ish to save our country. Kurdish people also suffer because many do not get their salaries. Many people believe that this war will continue, whereas others think that this will not continue in the distant future.
